MCP

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI assistants like Claude and ChatGPT talk to other software through a defined, permission-aware interface. Applied to Time Out Zone, it means asking your assistant "who's out next week?" or "file two days of vacation" and having it act on real data, under your account's permissions.

Straight answer first: the Time Out Zone MCP integration is planned, not yet available. There is no MCP server you can connect an assistant to today, and no setup screen in Settings. This article explains what is coming and what you can already use.

What MCP will make possible

  • Ask an assistant who on the team is out this week, answered from live data, scoped to what your role can see.
  • Check your remaining balance without opening the app.
  • Draft or file a time-off request conversationally; approvals still follow your company's approval flow.
  • Every action runs as you, with your permissions: an assistant can never see or do more than your own account.

That permission rule is the design principle: MCP is a new door into the same house, not a way around role checks or tenant isolation.

What you can use today

The integration that works right now is the calendar feed: a private ICS link that puts your approved time off into Google Calendar, Outlook, or Apple Calendar. Holiday import, Stripe billing, and Clerk sign-in are the other live integrations. Slack and Microsoft Teams notifications are marked "Coming soon" in the app.

When it ships

There is no announced date. When the MCP integration launches, it will appear in the product with setup instructions, and this article will change from "planned" to "how to connect". The feature page describes the direction in more detail.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect Claude or ChatGPT to Time Out Zone right now?
No, there is no publicly available MCP endpoint or API-key screen yet. Anything that claims otherwise is ahead of reality.
Will an assistant see other employees' data?
Only what your own account can see. An employee's assistant sees their requests and balances; a manager's sees the team scope; nothing crosses company boundaries.
Does Time Out Zone use AI on my data today?
No, the product has no AI features processing customer data. MCP, when it ships, connects your assistant to your data at your request; it does not feed your data into model training.
